Northside's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) company policy refers to our responsibility towards our environment. Our company’s existence is not alone; it’s part of a bigger system of people, other organisations and nature. The social responsibility of a business should always start with the safety and wellbeing of the people and the environment the business effects.

Scope

This policy applies to our company and its subsidiaries. It may also refer to suppliers and partners.

Our company’s social responsibility falls into two categories: compliance and pro-activeness. Compliance refers to our company’s commitment to legality and willingness to observe community values. Pro-activeness is every initiative we take to promote human rights, help communities and protect our natural environment.

Wellbeing

Northside Truck and Van LTD is dedicated to the wellbeing of our workforce. We have opened up a communication channel with our HR department for employees to seek help with any concerns that may impact their mental and physical health. This is strictly a confidential form of contact and offers help for issues in and outside of working hours.  We can offer help with any kind of concern including (but not limited to) mental health, debt problems, personal issues & stress management.

Protecting Wildlife

We have embarked on a mission to reduce the quantity of single-use plastic within the business and are focussing on more environmentally friendly measures such as replacing the plastic water cups in our dealers with recyclable paper cups and we are currently exploring sustainable alternatives to plastic seat covers. 
Northside Truck and Van actively recycle their paper waste prompted by the presence of dedicated paper recycle points in every depot.

Saving Energy

We are undergoing changes to our lighting policy which will see us replace all the old, high-energy light fittings in all departments in all of our dealerships with new, brighter & more energy efficient LED fittings to help to preserve the world's resources. 

Recycling

Northside as a group make every effort to reduce our impact on the environment by continually looking at better and more effective ways to segregate and recycle all waste materials generated in our working processes.

Northside Truck and Van actively recycle their paper waste prompted by the presence of dedicated paper recycle points in every depot.

As a group we strive to educate all our employees in safe working practices. This means making sure that our work force and others are protected from anything that may cause harm, effectively controlling any risks to injury or health that could potentially arise in our place of work. As a management team we are all, auditing and improving workplace safety on a daily basis.

The Data Protection Act 2018 is the UK's implementation of the General Data ProtectionRegulation (GDPR). Everyone responsible for using personal data has to follow strict rules called 'data protection principles'. They must make sure the information is: used fairly, lawfully and transparently.

Investing in the Future

Northside Truck and Van has become one of a select number of organisations across 75 countries in the World, to achieve the prestigious Silver status in the ‘Investors in People’ accreditation.

Investors in People recognises outstanding management, communication and training within businesses and organisations. From the thousands that seek Investors in People accreditation, only 6% gain the coveted Silver status.

To achieve the initial Investors in People status a company or organisation has to meet 39 tough standards over the way they train and develop their people. To achieve silver status a further 76 evidence requirements must also be met.

Bribery and Corruption

Northside  comply with anti-bribery and anti-corruption legislation, and has a ZERO tollerance on bribery, Corruption,and cartel  fix pricing operations.

Northside Truck & Van Limited is also committed to protecting and promoting human rights globally.

Northside Truck & Van Limited does not tolerate child labour, forced labour, including prison labour, or any use of force or other forms of coercion, fraud, deception, abuse of power or other means to achieve control over another person for the purpose of exploitation.
