1. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

Northside Truck & Van Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

We recognise the urgent need to combat climate change and are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact through measurable actions and continuous improvement.

This Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our baseline emissions, reduction targets, carbon reduction projects, governance arrangements and environmental management measures.

Northside Truck & Van Ltd utilises findings and operational data derived from The Anderson Group ESOS Phase 3 assessment completed in 2024 to identify and implement operational energy reduction opportunities, improve fleet efficiency and support continual environmental improvement across the organisation.

Northside Truck & Van Ltd is also an authorised MAXUS dealer and supports the sustainability and electrification objectives of MAXUS and SAIC Motor through the promotion and supply of low-emission and electric commercial vehicles.

2. Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced prior to the implementation of carbon reduction strategies and environmental management measures.

The organisation’s baseline emissions have been established using operational data, energy consumption analysis and transport activity reporting derived from ESOS Phase 3 and SECR reporting activities.

The baseline year for this Carbon Reduction Plan is 2022.

3. Current Emissions Reporting

Current reporting data relates to the reporting year ending 31 December 2023.

Northside Truck & Van Ltd continues to monitor and assess operational emissions generated through buildings, energy consumption, transport activity and associated business operations.

The organisation is committed to improving reporting accuracy, monitoring arrangements and carbon reduction initiatives over time.

4. Environmental Management Measures

Northside Truck & Van Ltd and The Anderson Group Ltd maintain environmental and energy management measures including:

  • ESOS Phase 3 compliance and continual improvement planning
  • Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR)
  • Operational energy monitoring and reporting
  • Heating optimisation and smart building controls

  • 5. Emissions Reduction Targets

    Northside Truck & Van Ltd is committed to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1, Scope 2 and applicable Scope 3 categories in line with the pathway to Net Zero by 2050.

    The organisation aims to:

  • Reduce operational emissions year-on-year
  • Improve transport and fleet efficiency
  • Reduce energy consumption across operational premises
  • Increase use of low-emission technologies and vehicles
  • Continue implementing practical energy reduction initiatives
  • Strengthen environmental governance and reporting arrangements
  • Targets and performance measures will continue to be reviewed as part of the organisation’s ongoing environmental improvement programme.

    6. Carbon Reduction Projects

    Northside Truck & Van Ltd has implemented, or is in the process of implementing, a range of carbon reduction projects and operational improvements including:

  • LED lighting upgrades and energy efficiency improvements
  • Heating controls and building optimisation measures
  • Driver efficiency training and fleet fuel reduction initiatives
  • Route planning and mileage reduction measures
  • Increased use of video conferencing and remote working
  • Waste reduction and recycling improvements
  • Refrigeration and compressed air efficiency measures
  • Renewable energy assessment projects
  • Operational energy monitoring and management initiatives
  • The organisation will continue to identify, assess and implement additional opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve operational efficiency.

    7. Supplier Emissions Declaration

    Emissions are reported in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) and are aligned with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors.

    The organisation reports applicable Scope 1, Scope 2 and selected Scope 3 emissions categories as required under PPN 006 guidance.

    Selected Scope 3 categories may include:

  • Business travel
  • Employee commuting
  • Waste generated in operations
  • Fuel and energy related activities
  • Upstream transportation and distribution
  • Purchased goods and services where applicable
  • 8. Declaration and Sign-Off

    This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

    Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

    Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

    This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
